Campus Security Officer

Position Purpose
The Campus Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the campus, preventing criminal activity, and ensuring a secure environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors in accordance with Certis Security Standard operating procedures. They will patrol the premises, monitor security systems, respond to emergencies, and enforce rules and regulations to ensure the safety of the campus community.
Key Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing:

Patrol the Campus: Walk or drive around campus to make sure everything is safe and sound. You’ll be keeping an eye on buildings, parking lots, and outdoor spaces to catch any suspicious behavior before it turns into a problem.

Watch the Security Systems: Keep an eye on the surveillance cameras and alarm systems to spot anything unusual. If something isn’t working right, you’ll report it.

Respond to Incidents: If something happens – whether it's a fight, theft, or medical emergency – you’ll respond quickly and help out as needed. You might also call in the police or medical staff if it's serious.

Enforce Campus Rules: Help enforce the rules around campus, like parking restrictions, alcohol use, or curfews. You’ll remind people about the rules when needed.

Help People Out: Whether it's giving directions, helping someone with a lost item, or escorting someone across campus at night, you’ll be a helpful and friendly face around campus.

Investigate Issues: If something seems off, you’ll look into it, ask questions, and take notes on what happened. You might need to write up a report if something major occurs.

Work with Local Authorities: Sometimes, you'll need to team up with local police or emergency responders, especially in bigger situations, and support them when they’re on campus.

Provide First Aid: Be ready to give basic first aid or CPR if someone gets hurt or sick until help arrives.

Support Campus Events: If there’s a big event on campus, like a game or concert, you’ll help keep things safe for everyone.
What We’re Looking For:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (a college degree in something like criminal justice is a bonus).
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is a plus.
- Comfortable using security systems, like cameras and alarms.
- A good communicator who can stay calm in stressful situations.
- Basic first aid or CPR skills (or a willingness to get certified).
Qualification
Mandatory
- Current and applicable Security license Cert ll (as per state regulation)
- Current First aid Certificate
- CPR
Experience
Preferable to have had at least 12 months experience in a supervisory role in a similar industry.
