NV1 Security Officer

POSITION PURPOSE

As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and professional environment for a high-level regulatory or investigative agency. You will be responsible for safeguarding personnel, sensitive information, and the premises, ensuring compliance with strict security protocols. This role requires vigilance, discretion, and strong situational awareness to respond to incidents, manage access, and maintain the integrity of operations while providing a professional and supportive presence for all staff and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Security Duties

• Access Control & Surveillance: Implement and monitor strict access control systems, ensuring only authorized personnel are granted entry to restricted areas.
• Routine Patrolling: Conduct regular internal and external patrols of the premises, including high-security areas, to prevent unauthorized access and detect any security breaches.
• Incident Response: Respond swiftly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, alarms, and security breaches, ensuring a professional and calm response.
• Security Systems Management: Operate and maintain security systems such as Gallagher, CCTV, alarm systems, and other access control technologies, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly and reporting any malfunctions.
• Emergency Response: Be the first responder to fire, medical, and security incidents, following established emergency protocols and liaising with emergency services.
• Escort Duties: Escort visitors, contractors, and personnel to restricted areas, ensuring security protocols are adhered to.
• Reporting: Prepare detailed incident reports, hazard reports, and daily shift logs, ensuring accurate documentation of all security activities and incidents.
• Investigation: Conduct investigations into security breaches or suspicious activity, providing recommendations for improving security procedures.
• Safety Checks: Perform regular safety checks of safety equipment, fire alarms, and emergency exits, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory

✔ NV1 Security Clearance
✔ Current and valid Victorian Security License
✔ Certificate II in Security Operations
✔ Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
✔ Australian Citizenship (required due to clearance requirements)
✔ Proficiency in security systems, including Gallagher (mandatory)
✔ Excellent communication and customer service skills

Desirable

✔ Experience working in high-security or corporate environments
✔ Familiarity with advanced security technology and CCTV systems

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years of experience in a security officer role, preferably in a high-security or corporate setting.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and respond effectively to security incidents and emergencies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document and report incidents clearly and accurately.
• Proficiency with security systems such as Gallagher, CCTV, and alarm systems.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and take swift, effective action in emergency situations.
• High level of attention to detail, ensuring compliance with security protocols and safety standards.
