Security Officer

POSITION PURPOSE
As a security officer, you will report to the Site Security Supervisor or 2IC and be responsible for live monitoring, coordinating incident and emergency responses, and supporting on-ground security operations through advanced surveillance and access control systems in a control room or gatehouse environment.
This role is critical to maintaining site safety, ensuring operational continuity, and protecting essential infrastructure. Operating in a high-security environment, the security officer plays a key role in emergency response coordination, system integrity checks, and compliance with strict safety and operational protocols.
Multiple open casual roles available.
Other responsibities will include but not limited to:
Gatehouse operations, control room operations, emergency response operations and conducting patrol via foot or vehicle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems in real-time to identify and respond to incidents promptly.
- Liaise with on-ground security personnel to coordinate responses and ensure the safety of staff, contractors, and critical infrastructure.
- Accurately log and report all incidents, system faults, and operational activities in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine system checks to ensure functionality and perform minor troubleshooting as required.
- Support the execution of emergency protocols, including evacuation coordination and escalation procedures.
- Gatehouse operations.
- Site patrols
- Prevention and investigations of unauthorised persons detected.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in all communications and operations
QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory:
- A current and valid Victorian Security Licence
- A current valid full Victorian drivers license
- Certificate III in Security Operations
- Valid First Aid Certificate with current CPR
- Full working rights in Australia
- Control room and monitoring operator on security license
- Must be available to work in 12 hours rotating roster pattern
Desirable:
- Hold advanced First Aid Certificate (HALTAID014)
- Previous experience in a control room or high-pressure monitoring environment
- Familiarity with electronic security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and access control
- Strong communication and incident reporting skills
- Understanding of emergency response protocols and procedures
- Experience working in critical infrastructure or industrial environments
- Previous experience in gatehouse operations
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed, and accurate incident reports
- Experience using access control systems (e.g., Gallagher) is advantageous
- Familiarity with CCTV software platforms (e.g., Genetec/milestone) is highly desirable
- Experience working in a corporate or industrial environment
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-based setting
- Exceptional customer service skills with a professional and courteous approach
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and incident logging systems
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures precisely
- Comfortable working in a rotating shift environment, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- High level of integrity, discretion, and reliability in handling sensitive information
