POSITION PURPOSE

As a Maritime Security Guard reporting to the onsite Certis Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for enforcing maritime security protocols, managing access control, conducting regular patrols, and responding to alarms and incidents across designated port zones. You will also monitor surveillance systems, support emergency response procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and site-specific security plans.

 

You will play a key role in maintaining the safety and integrity of the port environment, protecting critical infrastructure and assets, and delivering a high level of service to DP World and its stakeholders. Your vigilance, professionalism, and proactive approach will ensure that all maritime security operations are carried out effectively, contributing to a secure and efficient port facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Access Control: Control access to maritime zones for both personnel and vehicles in accordance with MTOFSA regulations and approved security protocols.
  • Patrolling & Surveillance: Conduct internal and external foot and vehicle patrols, ensuring surveillance of the port's perimeter, entry gates, and high-security areas.
  • Incident Response: Monitor CCTV surveillance and site alarms, responding promptly to any security incidents, fire alarms, or emergency situations.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Provide daily communications reports, incident logs, alarm responses, and detailed breach reports. Ensure all documentation is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Security Systems Management: Utilize access control systems, CCTV, and visitor management tools to maintain security and monitor site activities.
  • Traffic Control: Manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring proper access at gates, intercoms, and parking areas.
  • Customer Service: Ensure exceptional service standards, responding professionally to staff, contractors, and visitors while maintaining security protocols.
  • Emergency Response: Provide first aid and respond to medical emergencies and other urgent incidents as required. Conduct fire alarm and emergency siren tests.
  • Compliance & Safety: Practice and enforce health and safety standards, including risk assessments, and comply with maritime security regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Mandatory:

  • Certificate II in Security Operations.
  • Valid WA Security License.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
  • Occupational First Aid – Level 3.
  • Current Valid driving license.

 

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in maritime security or similar roles.
  • CCTV monitoring and access control system experience.
  • Ability to write detailed incident and security reports.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a maritime security or gatehouse role, preferably in a high-security environment.
  • Proven experience in controlling access and responding to alarms and incidents.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce clear and accurate reports.
  • Ability to work independently and manage security systems with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated capability to handle emergencies, including medical incidents, with a calm and professional demeanour.
  • Sound knowledge of maritime security regulations and practices, including MTOFSA compliance.
