Duties & Responsibilities
• Explore and identify internal & external data sources to enrich data analysis; Translate data requirements from business users and data analysts / scientists into technical data modelling specifications.
• Identify and analyse raw data: sourcing data from existing production systems and/or data warehouse, assessing data quality, perform data cleansing and transformation for downstream processing.
• Propose and build ingestion pipelines to collect, clean, harmonise, merge, and consolidate data sources in the cloud environment.
• Support, operate and maintain existing data infrastructures and ETL jobs, consists of data repositories and data visualisation platforms. This includes database capacity planning and maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning, diagnose issues and deploy measures to prevent issues recurrence.
• Research and develop new technologies and approaches for building modernised data ecosystems.
• Demonstrate analytics-driven operations through the application of data analytics techniques in decision-making and support tasks.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to highlight preliminary data insights and limitations through the use of data visualisation techniques.
• Document relevant information for our business units and customers
• Promote a data-driven culture through inspiring, and realisation of data analytics’ potential within the organisation
Skills & Experience
• Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related technical fields
• Proficient with one or more of the usual programming languages used in data analytics – Python, R, SQL and visualisation software – Tableau, Power BI
• Strong knowledge ETL and data wrangling techniques.
• Knowledge in tools/services provided via Cloud service providers (eg. AWS - Athena, Kinesis, Glue etc.)
• Knowledge in cloud data infrastructure or Big Data technologies
• Highly self-motivated to excel in assigned tasks and deliver results
• Passion for learning new technologies
• Team-oriented and personable
• Good written and verbal communication skills; Ability to present and explain the technical aspects and benefits of analytics projects in a clear and convincing manner to business users/sponsors
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
